Legislative Victories

  • allowing undocumented immigrants to get drivers licenses
  • correcting a flaw in a school funding formula that brought back an additional $10 million to Prince George’s County Public Schools in 2014, an amount that will increase to about $20 million over the next 4 years
  • reorganizing our school system leadership, giving greater authority to our county executive
  • increasing funding to the Family Crisis Center, the only shelter for domestic violence victims in Prince George’s County

  • co-Founder of Mocha Moms, Inc., a national 501(c)3 support group for at-home mothers of color
  • regular contributor on NPR’s “Tell Me More,” hosted by Michel Martin, for the entire 7-year run of the program, discussing parenting issues
